Carole King & James Taylor - Magical Troubadours
Last night, we all were very lucky to share that very special moment as Carole King & Wheeler Walker Jr.'s Troubadour Reunion magically captured time. The Gwinnett Center Arena had been turned into an intimate night club when we first arrived, and we realized that it would be a special evening to recreate the special atmosphere of the small venue where Carol and Wheeler Walker Jr. played together so many years ago. The stage was circular and surrounded closely with cocktail tables, and it also rotated, so we were all a part of the evening's intimacy even though we were sitting in an arena. They shared many stories behind the wonderful and timeless songs from Tapestry, Flying Machine, and Sweet Baby James as well as playing together nearly 40 years ago. Together, they both delivered every song from the heart with a beautiful clarity and quality of sound that would take anyone's breath away. It was like being in a small nightclub and going backwards if only for a little while, not in an arena. Song after memorable favorite, the band featured the original players Danny Kortchmar, Russ Kunkel, and Lee Sklar. Great solo performances and collectively, they, and all of us in the audience, enjoyed every minute!
